Bio

Fernando G. Aguilar, AIA received his Master of Architecture in Urban Design from University of Texas in Austin and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Architecture from University of Texas in San Antonio, Texas. As a graduate assistant, Fernando assisted with documenting 16th century Spanish colonial churches throughout Mexico.

As a Registered Architect in the State of Texas (No. 17162), Fernando is an active member of the American Institute of Architects San Antonio Chapter, and a member of the Texas Society of Architects.

Fernando joined Madeline Anz Slay Architecture in April 2005 and was promoted to Principal in 2006. Prior to joining, Fernando worked for MDN Architects as a Project Architect on numerous retail projects, master plans, and other retail developments, including construction administration. He also worked as a Project Manager for Andrew Perez Associates and assisted with master plans, urban studies, and developed designs for institutional, educational, and governmental projects.

Fernando and his wife Lysa have been married over 15 years and enjoy spending time with their two boys. Fernando served as a religious instructor for 10 years in a local parish and serves on an “ad hoc” building committee for St. Philip of Jesus Catholic Church. On the weekends, he enjoys participating in sports, such as bowling, basketball and fishing. His hobbies include sketching, camping and doing home improvement projects.
