Resume Madeline Anz Slay is President of Madeline Anz Slay Architecture, PLLC, an architectural design and project management firm founded December 1, 2000. Madeline Anz Slay Architecture, PLLC, has grown from a “one-woman” firm to one that employs seventeen dedicated team members with offices in San Antonio and Laredo. Madeline and her team are committed to providing quality design and service throughout all phases of each project, recognizing the individual needs of each client.
Madeline received her Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University, College of Architecture, in 1991 and is licensed in the State of Texas, Number 16442. She practiced in the Washington, D.C. area from 1991 through 1993 as a project manager with a design-build firm based in Vienna, Virginia.
Bio
Upon returning home to San Antonio in 1993, she spent a year as a project manager for the Grumman Melbourne Joint Stars project. From 1994 through December 2000 she worked as a Project Architect for Rehler Vaughn and Koone, Inc. where she was promoted to Associate while working on such projects as the new Kendall County Courthouse, New Braunfels Public Library, and Coates Library at Trinity University.
A member of the American Institute of Architects, Madeline continuously served on the Board of Directors from 1996-2007. She ended her time on the board as a Host Chapter Co-Chair person for the AIA 2007 National Convention held in San Antonio. She is also a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners and Woman President's Organization. Madeline has directed numerous committees and is a founding member of Women in Design, a mentoring arm of the AIA San Antonio Chapter. She is involved with the community through such mentoring programs as “Income of Her Own” as a facilitator, and improving City processes with the Development Services Committee. She has also been involved as a mentor in the programs at John Jay High School, Northside ISD, and the Northeast ISD’s Design and Technology Academy. Madeline provides financial resources and time commitments to many charities including Visitation House Ministries, Birthright, St. Peter – St. Joseph Children’s Home, Nino’s-SA, and the Good Shepherd Women’s Shelter. Madeline is currently serving a four year term as a member of the governing board of St. Peter – St. Joseph Children’s home.
Madeline was selected to be a part of the prestigious Greater Chamber’s Leadership San Antonio Class of 2003. MAS was recognized as a Fast Track business by the San Antonio Business Journal in 2004, as well as Madeline being recognized as a 40 under 40 Rising Star. Madeline also received a 2004 Entrepreneurial Spirit Award from National Association of Women Business Owners. Madeline Anz Slay Architecture was recognized by the San Antonio Conservation Society with their 2004 Historic Preservation Award for the Harnisch-Walker House in King William, San Antonio, Texas. In 2008, Madeline was recognized by the North Chamber of San Antonio for excellence, creativity, initiative, assisting women in leadership, and community service with her receipt of the ATHENA International Young Professional Award. Later that month, the North Chamber again recognized Madeline with a Small Business Leader's Award for her Community Service.
